History

In November of 2005, the Broadway show Jersey Boys opened and was an immediate success. Over the next few years, the show has become one of the most acclaimed musicals in the United States, Great Britain and Australia.

This was the culmination of the long career of Bob Crewe in the world of music and art. With the success of this wonderful show and prolific song catalogue, the famed songwriter/producer decided to “pay it forward” and as a result, in 2009 he along with his brother Dan Crewe founded The Bob Crewe Foundation.
Before Bob passed away in 2014 and having moved to Maine a few years earlier, it became the Crewe family’s intention to continue Bob’s legacy through this foundation with a unique focus on Maine and it’s incredible arts and LGBTQ communities. Most of the board members are based in Maine and integral parts of the community in the Greater Portland Area.
